You all asked and I answered! Here is my definitive ranking of all of Disney Pixar's movies! I love Pixar! Some of my favorite movies come from this company. John Lasseter is, in my opinion, the Walt Disney of this time! There are so many things to credit him for! Pixar launched the animation industry into what is it today! Please keep in mind these are MY opinions. I actually don't think any of these movies are bad. Please feel free to write your favorite movies in the comment section below! 17. Cars 216. I decided to write this Daily Entry because of the Disney World Planning fastpass+ guide I wrote last week. This is a great example of why you NEED fast passes and a touring plan. Especially with Frozen Ever After (currently the most popular ride on Disney property). This happened when my family and I visited Disney in November of 2016. I have 3 siblings who are obsessed with Frozen. Especially my sister Maggie. We were lucky enough to obtain a fast pass to Frozen Ever After at 8:15pm the ONLY day we were going to be there (yes!). My stepmom decided it was a good idea to use the technique from my fast pass guide and arrive at the park at opening and dash to the ride. We had heard from multiple touring guides and bloggers that this ride breaks down easily and will for long periods of time. This is because Frozen Ever After is still on the old track of Maelstrom, but there is tons of new technology on the track. These two systems don't always work well together causing it to break down frequently. Since Maggie was looking forward to this ride we decided to not risk it. We ended up LITERALLY running (with tons of other moms and strollers) and got there with only a 25 min wait! The que line is so cool actually, and I was glad we were able to wait in it. My sister LOVED the ride and so did my brothers. Since my brother Patrick is 3 and couldn't ride any of the other tier two rides, we decided to keep our fast pass and go back to it after dinner!! Soooo, we did our thing, had a great day, and finally at 8:30pm arrived back at Frozen Ever After. At this point the ride was 130 min long! We were happy to have a fastpass. We got in line and around 20 min in to waiting... it happened. The ride broke down for the night.... I'm not kidding when I say that it was a MADHOUSE in this small waiting area. People were screaming and crying it was awful. My stepmom turned to me and was like "THANK GOD! We rode it this morning...". But then it dawned on me, some of these people had just waited 130 min to be told they weren't going to ride the ride. Even 45 min + waiting for a ride and it breaking down is awful and frustrating. Some people woke up at the crack of dawn and got fastpasses for that ride that night, and because of that maybe even missed out on Test Track or Soarin'. People were mad and frustrated and some, even hysterical. But obviously there was nothing anyone could do. People were yelling at the workers saying "it's my last day in this park and I waited for 100 min what am I supposed to do!?". The workers were handing everyone a fast pass for the ride for the next 10 days for anytime but again.. some were leaving the next day. I felt so bad for the workers in that moment. Obviously they didn't do anything wrong and people were VERY upset with them. In that moment I think it would have been good for people to remember that it's no ones fault and there's nothing anyone could do about it. But, I get it, planning (sometimes) a once in a lifetime trip for months and to have this happen is probably the most frustrating thing ever. So we took the fast passes, but we obviously were not going to be back the next day. We ended giving them to an older couple who WAS going back the next day and they said they were going to hand them to people standing in line. That's the spirit! Yes it was a sucky situation but, now there was an opportunity to make someone else's trip even more magical. That's what it's all about.
I guess the lession here is. GO TO DISNEY WITH A TOURING PLAN AND FAST PASSES. FAST PASSES ARENT ALWAYS GUARANTEED. BE NICE AND UNDERSTANDING TO PEOPLE. Now that this story time is over if you want to know the ins and outs of fast passes so this doesn't happen to you, click here. Today we take time to think about something immensely important. What houses would each Disney Princess belong to? I know I'm crossing universes here; Universal & Disney. But I think about this a lot! Personally I'm a Slytherin and think I'm the most like Repunzel, but to me that doesn't mean those go together. SO! without further ado here are all of the Princesses sorted into Hogwarts houses! (of course these are my opinions and I would really like to know what you think in the comments below!) I think it is important to start off by telling you how I am deciding.
Snow WhiteSnow White to me is a Hufflepuff! I consider her a part of this house for her patience, kindness, and loyalty. She is patient with almost everyone she meets including the Evil Queen and Grumpy. She is known for her kindness and optimism (which happens to be her greatest strength). She is kind toward everyone she meets and always puts them before herself. She handles Grumpy in the most gentle way by being patient and staying cheerful despite his.... grumpy..... disposition. Finally, she is loyal to her friends and treats them like her own family! Sleeping Beauty -or- AuroraThis was quite a hard one for me. I love Aurora but in her movie she only speaks 16 lines. We know much of her past, but not a whole ton of who she exactly is as a young adult. In this case knowing what I know I'd have to say she is another Hufflepuff. Why? Well Briar Rose is kind, loyal, and a bit naive. At this point in Disney history Princess were often continuously seen this way. She is very loyal to her "aunts" and obeys their rules respectively. Although in recent media I see Aurora as very self assured and confident in her ability to make her own decisions. So, would that make her a Slytherin? I'm not sure, but its no surprise that people can obtain characteristics from more than one house. CinderellaCinderella is a Gryffindor! Despite her hard life and emotional abuse Cinderella is independent, strong willed, self reliant, and brave. All the while she is kind and doesn't allow bitter people to stop her from obtaining a happy full life. I was conflicted with Cinderella. I see her as somewhat of a Hufflepuff because of her hard work and patience, but I was afraid that that the time this movie was made put her in that box. I see lots of potential in Cinderella's character and felt like Gryffindor was appropriate. I see her potential to be a chivalrous hero! ArielThis one might surprise you. Ariel to me is a Slytherin. She is independent, headstrong, resourceful, and determined. She is full of strong passion and knows exactly what she wants. Although sometimes she does things out of order and doesn't think of the people she affects. AGAIN! Just because Ariel is a Slytherin does not mean she's evil! Ariel is also very bright and has a spirited personality! She was arguably the first Disney Princess to show personality! BelleBelle is obviously a Ravenclaw! She is intelligent, sophisticated, selfless, caring, assertive, outspoken, and curious. Belle is very well known for loving her books and loving to learn. This has provided her with lots of insight and a big imagination. Her smarts and freethinking attitude make her stand out compared to the rest of her town. She is also very brave. Which makes me think she might fit into the Gryffindor category somewhat. She gives herself to the beast to protect the ones she loves. Belle is truly a feminist and admirable. JasmineJasmine is most definitely a Slytherin. She is a very multi-layered character because, on one hand she is very independent and headstrong. On the other, she is extremely compassionate and caring. Jasmine is one of those characters I admire immensely (being a Slytherin also is that really a surprise?). Jasmine breaks the stereotype of being a princess and takes action in her kingdom. She wants to make her own decisions and knows exactly what she wants. She won't hesitate to stand up for what she believes in and won't settle for less than she deserves. PocahontasThis was also a really hard one for me. Personally Pocahontas to me is a Hufflepuff. I wanted to put her in literally every house because I think there is some of her in every one. But, I thought about her character and where I felt she would fit in. She is wise, free-spirited, and offers kindness and guidance to all of those around her. She is also very spiritual. Being a natural born leader, Pocahontas is a hard worker. She is the epitome of what a good person should embody. Taking all of this into account I see her fitting in with the Hufflepuffs most! MulanAt the beginning of the film Mulan is free-spirited, humble, and clumsy. She is having a hard time fitting into her part in her town. Mulan then goes on to make an incredible sacrifice, going to war for her father. This act is driven by love... not bravery. In fact she doubts herself a ton. But, during the movie it shifts. Mulan becomes confident, self-reliant, fierce, impressionable, and persistent. All the while she stays humble and everything she does, she does for others. Mulan saves her country and becomes a HERO! She gains respect from those around her AND fights the battle of sexism! What a role model!! Mulan is nothing short of a Gryffindor. She is chivalrous and brave and sets a huge example for girls and boys. She's seriously awesome.... heck I wanna be her! For this one I'm CONFIDENT the Sorting Hat would agree. Don't you? TianaI would first just like to point out that EVERYTIME I watch this movie I cry. Tiana is sooooo inspiring! In my opinion Tiana is a Ravenclaw... or a Slytherin??? I don't know I'm having such a hard time with this one! She is intelligent, resourceful, and very talented. At the beginning of the movie you might think she is a little uptight because she works so hard and never takes time to relax. Tiana definitely knows what she wants and obviously will NOT stop until her dreams are fulfilled. She's a very good problem solver and believes nothing can be given to you unless you work for it! She is very honorable and has a little spice to her. Tiana won't take nothing from anyone!!! I guess all of this considered I see her as a Slytherin. I mean her dress even matches 😋. RepunzelThis one might shock you but, Repunzel is a Ravenclaw. I really really considered putting her in Slytherin but, I don't see her as someone who will stop at nothing to get what she wants. Just listen!! So, Repunzel's upbringing causes her to be very self doubtful and insecure. I don't think these traits go away. Repunzel is very intelligent, creative, witty and resourceful. She often manipulates situations to get what she wants. Not like in a bad way! It's just a fact, like forcing Eugene to guide her after he breaks into her house. Honestly without him I don't think she would've ever left the tower or found her true self. Which I guess is one of the points of the story, but Repunzel continously questions her actions and multiple times almost goes back. She is very witty and resourceful though. In sticky situations she uses her intellect to solve problems... like a Ravenclaw... see what I'm saying? She is also extremely radiant and others are impacted by her positivity! MeridaMerida is clearly a Gryffindor! She is brave, bold, daring, and courageous. She defies all of the stereotypes of a Princess. She openly defies her customs and traditions. Although Merida is not a hero in her movie, in fact she does a lot of damage, I see her potential. She has the courage and drive to be a hero and would make a great queen. Although her rebels get her into trouble, Merida only does what is right in her heart. No one can stop her fierceness! AnnaAnna is a Hufflepuff if I ever did see one! She is optimistic, awkward, compassionate, and loyal. Anna immensely loves those who are close to her... and those she just met 😅. This can sometimes be seen as her biggest flaw, because sometimes she is too trusting. She is compassionate and loving to every being she encounters. More than anything Anna is loyal and caring towards her sister Elsa (who is a Queen not a Princess by the way). She is really the only one who sees the good in her sister and tries as hard as she can to make everyone see it too. She also puts herself in risky situations to help her sister. LIKE HOW SHE ALMOST DIED FOR HER!! This is just another example of Anna's loyalty, passion, and hope. MoanaFinally, Moana! I am so proud to say I think she shows the qualities of a Slytherin! Although I was debating putting her in Gryffindor because she is the hero. She is headstrong, fearless, confident, and prideful. Although she has some self doubt she is good at not letting anyone see it! She knows what she wants and stops at nothing to achieve it. She cares a great deal for her people and village and does something scary to save them. For being only 16 she is such a natural born leader and a great problem solver. There is no arguing that Moana always perseveres. She uses a little of her spice to try to get others to take her seriously, but I almost feel like she doesn't need to. It's not hard to see that Moana is wise and mature beyond her years. So!! Here are the results! Gryffindor: Cinderella, Mulan, Merida Hufflepuff: Snow White, Aurora, Pocahontas, Anna Ravenclaw: Belle, Repunzel Slytherin: Ariel, Jasmine, Tiana, Moana Again these are my opinions! If you disagree or agree please comment below! I would love to hear what you think. Rivers of Light is a nighttime show at Disney's Animal kingdom. It is located right next to Expedition Everest. You can't miss the big arena. The show incorporates water fountains, mist screens, floating lanterns, and some live performers. It was first brought up as part of the park's expansion of Pandora-The World of Avatar. The show is able to seat 5,000 people making it Disney World's smallest night time show. STILL 5,000!!! There are multiple ways to see the show and attain a seat. One is through stand-by wait (probably the riskiest way but still possible), fast-pass, or dining package. I was able to do the dining package at Tusker House. Tusker House is quite expensive, but so is everything in Disney. It's a buffet style African meal. I'm not into anything with crazy spices, but it's really different! If you and your party are adventurous with food I say go for it. I wouldn't say that the package gave me premier seating...I sat in the back row. But, every seat really is a good one and I was able to see everything! Plus little ones can stand in the back and not disturb other guests. I was happy with where I was seated and got great videos! Rivers Of Light's show is about human connection with the natural world. Through songs, water, and projections it tells the audience that nature is one with humanity. For someone who is completely into nature preservation and animal equality, this show was really meaningful to me. If you're not interested in those things though don't worry! As seen from the videos above this show is nothing like you will ever see!! All of the projections are on water and it doesn't seem like that big of a deal until you see it. It's absolutely marvelous. I think the show is very different from anything Disney has done before. I know that in the future this is going to be on my list of things not to miss. If this is your first and maybe only time to Disney or you do not go that often, I think that this is something that is necessary to see. I know some Disney hard-core fans are getting nervous about Disney just switching over to projections. There were no fireworks in this show but that is simply because of the animals. I don't think this is a show just about projections either. There are floating animals that light up the water and beautiful lotuses that spout water in cool ways as shown in the video above. There was no WOW factor though. I don't remember the songs and I didn't get all teary eyed like I do with Wishes at the Magic Kingdom (which is leaving soon this year). There is also no Disney in it... if that makes sense. There's no Mickey or princesses or anything. It is more like eagles flying and lions roaring. To be completely honest I did not pay much attention to the people on the boats. I'm pretty sure they're just doing some dance movements that go along with the video and water. I really wasn't paying attention because there's just so much going on! Not in a bad way though. There's so much to look at and you will want to really take it all in. All in all I think that Rivers of Light should become a staple in an Animal Kingdom visit. I really enjoyed it and I'm super excited to see it again!
