Rivers of Light is a nighttime show at Disney's Animal kingdom. It is located right next to Expedition Everest. You can't miss the big arena. The show incorporates water fountains, mist screens, floating lanterns, and some live performers. It was first brought up as part of the park's expansion of Pandora-The World of Avatar. The show is able to seat 5,000 people making it Disney World's smallest night time show. STILL 5,000!!! There are multiple ways to see the show and attain a seat. One is through stand-by wait (probably the riskiest way but still possible), fast-pass, or dining package. I was able to do the dining package at Tusker House. Tusker House is quite expensive, but so is everything in Disney. It's a buffet style African meal. I'm not into anything with crazy spices, but it's really different! If you and your party are adventurous with food I say go for it. I wouldn't say that the package gave me premier seating...I sat in the back row. But, every seat really is a good one and I was able to see everything! Plus little ones can stand in the back and not disturb other guests. I was happy with where I was seated and got great videos! Rivers Of Light's show is about human connection with the natural world. Through songs, water, and projections it tells the audience that nature is one with humanity. For someone who is completely into nature preservation and animal equality, this show was really meaningful to me. If you're not interested in those things though don't worry! As seen from the videos above this show is nothing like you will ever see!! All of the projections are on water and it doesn't seem like that big of a deal until you see it. It's absolutely marvelous. I think the show is very different from anything Disney has done before. I know that in the future this is going to be on my list of things not to miss. If this is your first and maybe only time to Disney or you do not go that often, I think that this is something that is necessary to see. I know some Disney hard-core fans are getting nervous about Disney just switching over to projections. There were no fireworks in this show but that is simply because of the animals. I don't think this is a show just about projections either. There are floating animals that light up the water and beautiful lotuses that spout water in cool ways as shown in the video above. There was no WOW factor though. I don't remember the songs and I didn't get all teary eyed like I do with Wishes at the Magic Kingdom (which is leaving soon this year). There is also no Disney in it... if that makes sense. There's no Mickey or princesses or anything. It is more like eagles flying and lions roaring. To be completely honest I did not pay much attention to the people on the boats. I'm pretty sure they're just doing some dance movements that go along with the video and water. I really wasn't paying attention because there's just so much going on! Not in a bad way though. There's so much to look at and you will want to really take it all in. All in all I think that Rivers of Light should become a staple in an Animal Kingdom visit. I really enjoyed it and I'm super excited to see it again!
